Final Freshmen Team Stats
The 2018-19 Freshmen Mustangs finished their somewhat
abbreviated season with a 9-8 record, that included wins
over both Campbell County and NCC, achieving two of our
primary goals. We also defeated St. Henry. The Crusaders
and the Thoroughbreds played into the Final Four of the
Jack Kaelin Northern Kentucky Freshman Tournament.
Our team was victimized by numerous game cancellations
including a late season doubleheader at Williamstown, a
single game at Walton-Verona, a home game vs Holy Cross,
one at Ryle due to a wrestling meet, a game with Pendleton
County dislodged due to the re-schedule of the 10th Region
"A" Tournament that, due to postponements, landed on the
same date, and then the make-up was wiped out by the Polar
Vortex. That's snake-bit!!!
David Govan played with both the Freshman team and the
JV team. Both Jacob Leicht and Mitch Webster pulled
some double-duty with the JVs to fill some voids with the
older unit. Govan scored 150 points with the JVs and 14
varsity points before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
Leicht put up 22 points with the JVs, and Webster 12.
In addition to Webster and Leicht surpassing the Freshman Team century scoring mark, Charles Hartig put up
110 and Jed Martin 102.
This team recorded a 3-2 NKAC Division II Conference Record, were 3-3 at Home, 4-0 in Independent
competition, and 2-1 on Neutral Courts.
