The 2019-20 Freshman Mustangs were an exciting
bunch, that had many interchangeable parts.  They played
together well.
This team was plauged by injury, even before their
opening game when Robbie Verst was diagnosed with a
stress fracture of the lower back, Mason Meyer sustained a
high-ankle sprain, Luke Schumacher injured his knee in a
JV scrimmage, and Austin Schadler went out with a knee
injury during the second game of the season.
Despite losing arguably some of their better players, this
group re-invented themselves to play .500 ball, defeating
Beechwood, Covington Catholic, Newport Central
Catholic, Dixie Heights, Holmes and Scott.  CovCath went
on to win the Jack Kaelin Northern Kentucky Freshman
Tournament.
Ultra-consistent Evan Orth was the leading scorer,
averaging 10.5ppg, while both Mason Sepate and Logan
Woosley put up over 100 points each.  Jack Poe came on
late in the season and shows much potential for the future.
Woosley was named to the NoKy Freshman Tournament,
All-Tournament Team.
A number of freshmen saw JV minutes throughout the course of the season, with Orth, Sepate, Woosley,
Brandon Bezold and Luke Schumacher hooking up with them permanently following the conclusion of the
Freshman season.

This team recorded a 7-1 record at Home, were .500 vs 10th Region competition, and 5-1 in Independent games.
First year head coach Curtis Bezold did a masterful job getting all of the players involved by using a platoon
system.
