Bishop Brossart Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Ryan Schaeffer has announced his decision to step down as Head Coach from the program. Coach Schaeffer has led the Brossart Boys Soccer Program since the 2015 season and during that time compiled a record of 70-60-13. His teams won the 37th District Tournament in 2015, 2020, and 2021 and were runner-ups in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2017 they placed runner-up in the 10th Regional Championship. They won the All A 10th Regional Championship in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, and again in 2021. They advanced to the State Semifinals of the All A State in both 2015 and 2021. Coach Schaeffer plans to continue as a Varsity Assistant with the boys’ program. Long-time Assistant Ron Dunlevy has been named as Head Coach. Coach Dunlevy has just completed his fifth season as part of the program where he has served as the Head Freshman, Head JV Coach, and the last two seasons as the Varsity Assistant. He has also been an integral part of the program’s administrative duties. The Bishop Brossart community thanks Coach Schaeffer for his years of service to the program and welcomes Coach Dunlevy in his new role.
On a personal note, I am happy to hear that Coach Schaeffer is staying involved with the boys soccer program. On the occasions that I have observed his practices, I find him to be a fantastic teacher of the game as well as “coach.” His time and area were always well utilized, and his players respected him and enjoyed playing for him.
I have every confidence that Coach Dunlevy will carry on the fine traditions of our soccer program and lead us successfully into the future. DS
