Evan Moore Now Tops the State RBIs List

Our Mustangs have cracked the Runs Leaders in the Number 25 spot.  We hold down the 15th position in doubles, and are Number 11 at Home Runs, and are 17th in RBIs. Starting on Tuesday with the 10th Region Championship Game at Nichlas County, we have a full slate of games the remainder of the week, hosting Highlands on Wednesday, and Pendleton County on Thursday.  We will play in the Doc Morris Memorial Tournament beginning on Friday when we once again face Boone County, and Saturday taking on Frederick Douglass.  Doc Morris is a former revered baseball umpire and basketball official who I have the privilege of knowing, and considered him a friend.
Evan Moore ranked tied for number one in state in RBIs among stats leaders released by KHSAA. Our team holds down the number 21 spot with a total of 96.

Brossart Junior Evan Moore has had a fantastic spring.  Currently batting .500, he has knocked home 30 baserunners, which ranks him tied for Number One in the category among all KHSAA schools.  Actually, his stats are more impressive than Chance Furnish from Rowan County, who also has 30 ribbies, but has been to the plate on 51 occasions in 17 games, as opposed to Moore’s 36 appearances  in 13 games.  As a team Brossart stands 21st with 96 RBIs.   There are only three players who have knocked home 27, 28, or 29 runs.

Comparatively, Logan Meyer led the team with 22 RBIs all season a year ago, and in 2019, Nate Bezold knocked home a total of 31.  Moore still has quite a way to go before thinking about a school record.  Justin Seiter holds that distinction, knocking home 59 Mustangs in 254 at bats back in 2000.  The team record I show is 254, and that came in 1999.  I did verify that 254 is the school record for RBIs.

Other team distinctions:  As a team we are 12th in the state in doubles (27 in 13 games, 344 at bats) and 10th in Home Runs (9 in 13 Games, 344 at bats).

Evan Moore is the only Mustang to hold down an individual spot in any offensive category.  While it is nice to see a lot of our players names in the bright lights among state leaders, this also says something about this team’s total overall effort, that our talent level is spread nicely across the board, and that our parity doesn’t drop off of the cliff beyond a player or two.
