While known best for his prowess on the hardwood at basketball, where he hit "the shot" which beat Mason County in the 2000 10th Region Championship Game, winning our only Boys 10th Region Championship, Justin was an awesome Baseball player who holds 12 Individual school baseball records, and received a Division I Scholarship to Morehead State.
Writing and speaking recently about Evan Moore threatening school baseball records, motivated me to obtain and compare some of the records held by some of our former great baseball players.
The player who stands out the most when discussing school baseball records is 2000 graduate – Justin Seiter.
Contrary to a number I stated on our recent baseball broadcast, Justin holds 12 recognized school records with 5 of them coming on the pitcher’s mound and 7 of them coming at the plate.
As a senior, Justin set season records at the plate for Hits – 59, Home Runs – 13, and RBIs – 59. On the mound Justin pitched 79 innings, a school record, where he earned a school record 1.05 ERA. while recording a school best 12-1 mark. (Nate Verst posted a 10-0 mark in 2012). Seiter struck out 96, a school record, and tossed a school record 4 shutouts.
Justin Seiter set the following career records – Batting Average – .451, Hits – 174, Doubles – 49, and tied Evan McDole ’05 for most Home Runs with 24.
