Mustang JVs complete sweep over Ludlow with 20-6 Saturday morning decision – Tyler Holtz, Riley Twehues, and Sam Wade all score touchdowns, Nate Geiman good on a two-point conversion.
Hats off to Ludlow, who lost their JV quarterback, Keedon Moore in the varsity game Friday night, and still got on the bus bringing 13 tough football players to Alexandria to provide our JVs with competition on Saturday morning at the MAC.
It appeared that Brossart would score early in the game as we drove the ball to the 5 yard line – First and Goal. That drive came to a sudden end, when Byron Conley intercepted a Tyler Holtz pass, and the first quarter finished with no score.
Midway through the second period, Tyler Holtz directed a 62 yard drive that ended with Holtz running a 7 yard bootleg into the end zone, giving the home team a 6-0 lead, which we took to the locker room at intermission.
Landon Ruth intercepted a third quarter Conley pass and returned it all of the way to the 4 yard line, setting up an 18 yard Holtz to Riley Twehues touchdown pass, giving the green-clads a 12-0 lead, which expanded to 14-0 when Nate Geiman carried the piggy 13 yards for the two point conversion. Both the run from scrimmage and the 2-Point conversion had increased degrees of difficulty due to flags.
Ludlow tried to make a game of it with 8:59 to play in the contest, when their quarterback sprinted 44 yards for a touchdown making it 14-6. Sam Wade took over for Tyler Holtz and wasted no time in answering the Ludlow score, by going 25 yards around right end, giving the Mustangs the game-winning insurance run, expanding our lead to the final score of 20-6. With the win our JVs improve to 4-0 and will await a contest with Nicholas County at the MAC on Monday night, October 3rd.
