PLAYERS OF THE GAME: TYLER HOLTZ (O),  NOLAR KRUSE (D)

It was “Next Man Up” for the Mustangs who arrived in Bedford without the services of our quarterback, Keegan Gulley, and key defensive leaders Joe Schroeder, Derek Smith, and Henry Goering who is out for the season.  Not to worry however, as Tyler Holtz stepped right in, hit on 12 of 20 passes for 244 yards, four of which went for touchdowns (Schroeder (2), Amin, Mandel) and ran for another, earning him a Player of the Game Award. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 21-0 lead on a pair of Cam Mandel trophy runs, and a Tyler Holtz 2 Yard keeper.  Tyler Smith was 3 for 3 on PATs in the period and 6 of 6 on the night.  We would tack on two additional scores in the second frame when “Holtzie” hit Luke Schroeder for a pair of House Calls.  The Raiders did get on the board at the 1:12 mark of the second period when Tyler was picked off by Trimble County’s Sam Galloway went 72 yards for the score.  The half ended with the green-clads on top 36-7.
WHEN REID THOMPSON HIT THE LATE-GAME PAT, WE SET A NEW SCHOOL RECORD FOR POINTS SCORED IN A SINGLE GAME WITH 57, ECLIPSING THE OLD MARK OF 56.
Tyler Holtz flirted with a couple of school records Friday night. He threw for four touchdown passes, which is second only to Jesse Orth and Craig Pfefferman who managed five of them. His 244 toatal yards is 35 yards off of the school record held by Tyler MacDonald.

Cam Mandel scored his third touchdown of the night, going 41 yards, on a Tyler Holtz pass,  taking the same route as that exhibited at Pineville when Cam used the breadth and width of the gridiron while making his way to the end zone. Alex Amin scored from 37 yards out on his favorite crossing pattern.  Tyler threw him a strike and Alex made easy work of putting six points on the board, sending the game to a running clock at 50-14. Trimble answered on two occasions, both huge breakaway runs of 55 and 70 yards.  The latter on a muffed Raiders punt.  We led 50-22 after three quarters.

Our JVs took over in the fourth period.  Freshman Tripp Wilson connected with Eli Davis from 22 yards out, and Reid Thompson hit the  PAT giving the Mustangs a school record 57 points on the night.  (We had scored 56 points on three occasions previously – vs Jenkins in 2009, Caverna in 2011, and Bracken County in 2013).  Trimble County also tallied in the fourth quarter on a 4 yard run by fullback Zach Hemmingway, making the final score 57-28.
