Anthony Schuck Rushes For Two Early Scores, Landon Spaulding Finds Nick Cozzi Twice. Both Brady Boruske and Spaulding Go On Late Game Trophy Runs.
If you read between the lines of my preview, the moral of the story was to be patient, and the Raiders would wear down, and we would dominate late in the game. Such was certainly not the case on this Friday night in Bedford. With less than three minutes expired in the contest Anthony Schuck caried the pigskin 1 yard to cap off a 65 yard drive putting his tam on top 8-0 when he also followed the touchdown up with a 2-point conversion.
Five minutes later, again it would be Schuck who this time extended the challenge to 2 yards , making it 15-0 when Max Runge finished off the PAT. This score was set up by a 65 yard run by Bentley McKinzie, and we weren’t done yet.
With 1:26 remaining o the clock in the opening stanza, Landon Spaulding found Nick Cozzi wide open, completed the pass, and watched his handiwork unfold into a 75 yard touchdown pass-play, which made the score 22-0 with the Runge tack-on.
The second quarter would be more of the same, as the Mustangs sent this one to a running-clock with 32 seconds remained in the half when Spaulding kept it himself, scrambling 27 yards for the score. That touchdown had been preceded by a 15 yard Spauling toss to Nick Cozzi, who scored it for the second touchdown of the night for the duo. Runge went one for two of the PATs and for all intents and purposes we could have left early and headed up US42 to Carrollton for a Steak Hoagy at Hometown Pizza, before jumping on the expressway and coming home.
We would add one additional score inthe third quarter when Brady Boursky went on a 54 yard trophy run, making it the final score of 42-0 when Runge knocked it through the uprights.
For their efforts in the Trimble County game, Landon Spaulding and Mason McKinzie were our Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year. The win ups our District Seeding record to 2-1 and earns us a home date with Bellevue on Friday night, November 7th at the MAC.
