Senior Rachel Shewmaker is the first to clear the softball Green Monster, drives home six RBIs in an 11-4 victory over the Ryle Lady Raiders
Lady ‘Stangs powered past Ryle 11-4 on Wednesday behind a huge day from Rachel Shewmaker, who drove in six runs on three hits. Shewmaker delivered a three-run double in the second inning and capped the night with a three-run homer over the Green Monster in the sixth.
Lady ‘Stangs jumped out early with a two-run double from Ella Walerius in the first and continued to add on with timely hitting throughout the game, including an RBI single from Cayce Merkley in the third.
Anna Bezold earned the win, allowing two runs over five innings, while Maggie McKenzie added relief work.
Lady ‘Stangs totaled 11 hits, with Shewmaker and Merkley collecting three each and Tessa Wells adding two more. The team also showed patience at the plate with five walks. Ryle finished with 12 hits, but Lady ‘Stangs’ explosive offense proved too much.
