Accolades Continue to Roll In For Mustang Footballers, Honored by NKFCA

Dave Schabell December 12, 2021 1:00 am

In addition to Coach Paul Wiggins being named the NKFCA Coach of the Year, and Jed Martin and Jacob Leicht being named to the Top 26 Players in Northern Kentucky, the following players have been tabbed 1st or 2nd Team at their respective positions.

Coach Paul Wiggins has been named the Coach of the Year in all of Northern Kentucky.

Jacob Leicht was tabbed a member of the Top 26, as well as being awarded a memebr of the 2nd Team as Overall Athlete

Jed Martin was also named a member of the Top 26, and was named 1st Team – Running Back

Thomas Sayers was named to the 1st Team – Offensive Line

Kaleb Lukes was named to the 2nd Team – Linebackers

David Govan Voted 2nd Team – Defensive Line

Mason Meyer received 2nd Team Honors – Punter

I think that this speaks volumes about the respect that our program has earned among the other Northern Kentucky Schools over the years.  While you would like to think that politics does not enter into high school sports, it certainly does, and being members of a district comprised of non-Northern Kentucky schools, or being known as a 10th Region school, often makes it twice as tough for our guys to win this type of recognition.

Back in the early days of our school joining the 10th Region, we worked very hard to become good citizens of the 10th.  While we had nothing to do with our realignment there in 1996, early on there was resentment towards our intrusion on what many viewed a “good old boy” region who valued their status and resented change.  It wasn’t until I was elected into the 10th Region Hall of Fame in 2009 that I finally felt that we had arrived and had gained acceptance, at least on the surface,

Congratulations to Coach Paul WIggins and our players for earning these prestigious awards!!!

NFHS Network

Both the Munninghoff Family Stadium at the MAC, and the Seither Center gymnasium provides ability to watch the games online or through other streaming outlets. The games can be viewed on your computer, phones, tablets, and streaming devices (AppleTV, FireTV and Roku). We have partnered with the NFHS to make this happen.

This does come with a subscription fee. You may choose from a monthly or annual subscription. If you sign up via the button below, BBHS does receive a small portion of that fee.
