As Both Brossart Golf Teams Compete In “A” State, Both Brossart Soccer Teams Win 10th “A” Titles, Colts “Run-Rule” Campbell Co Gold 40-0

Dave Schabell September 11, 2021 9:05 pm

The All “A” State Golf Tournament got underway in Richmond on Saturday, and both Brossart teams are participating.  Lexington Christian won the girls event, with our ladies finishing sixth, outfinishing Owensboro Catholic, St. Henry and Hazard.  Our girls were led by Emma Laker with 91 and Belle Ritter at 93.  On the boys side, Lexington Christian again ruled the “A” State Field.  Our Mustangs, led by Brandon Bezold at 81, Griffin Schuetz 82 and Andrew Beck 86, finished in 7th place outfinishing four rivals.  With the football game and Homecoming on Friday night and early tee times for our girls in the morning, and a Homecoming semi-formal dance on Saturday night, and early tee times in Richmond on Sunday, our players put in a lot of miles and late hours this weekend.

Meanwhile both of our Brossart Soccer teams rolled to formality wins, the Girls handling St. Patrick 12-0, and the boys rocking Paris 10-0, securing 10th Region “A” Championships, and setting up “Semi-State” matches with the 9th Region Champions (Boys-Beechwood,  Girls-NCC) for the right to represent our two regions in in the September 25-26  All “A” State Soccer Tournaments.at Capital View Park in Frankfort.

With the wins, our Lady Stangs are now 8-4 on the season, and presently sport a four game win streak.  On the other side of the ledger, the Mustangs are now 7-5 and they too are on a win streak, having notched the last five outings as wins.

Our Lady Stangs Volleyball team are also 10th Region “A” Champs, and will be in action next weekend at EKU in Richmond, competing in the All “A” State Volleyball Tournament.

Closer to home our Brossart Junior High Colts were in action Saturday afternoon at the Campbell County Middle School, and laid a 40-0 wallop on the Campbell County Gold Camels.  With the win over Campbell County, our Colts complete the NCC-Campbell County Sweep and improve to 2-1 on the season.

Don’t look now but the Brossart Football Program is 7-1 overall.  The varsity is 4-0, the JVs 1-0, and the Colts are 2-1.

Coach Paul Wiggins and several Mustang Varsity players were on hand Saturday to root on the Brossart Junior High youngsters.  I even managed to make the trek to Bob Miller Stadium, but didn’t record any details.
