David Govan is our lone senior. Last season he was our third leading scorer, netting 250 points, for a 12.5ppg average. Govan was also our leading rebounder (7.6rpg). He shot 61% from the field and 68% from the free-throw line. Govan was also one of our football mainstays.
JUNIORS
#3 ANTHONY KRUSE 5’10” – 150 LBS
Kruse is projected to share a primary guard position this season. “A.K.” contributed in 10 varsity games and was the JV teams third leading scorer, nailing fourteen 3-point goals.
#4 Logan Woosley 5’11” – 145 LBS
Logan was one of our top returning players through summer open gyms and workouts. He contributed in 22 of our 24 varsity games a year ago and will likely hold down an off-guard position for the 2021-22 Mustangs.
#5 BRANDON BEZOLD 5’9″ – 165 LBS
One of our first players off of the bench a year ago. Brandon contributed in 23 Varity games, scoring 60 points, while shooting a blistering 88% from the FT line (short sample). “Bez” figures to combine with Kruse to man our point guard position.
#12 ROBBIE VERST 5’11” – 150 LBS
Plagued with injury throughout his career, Robbie was lost to the team for this season due to a pre-season knee injury. He has undergone surgery and will miss both the baseball and basketball seasons. Verst was projected to be our starting point guard, and a leading scorer. He scored 116 in 13 games a year ago.
#14 JACK POE 5’10” – 170 LBS
J-Poe is another who had a productive off-season. He contributed in 19 varsity games a year ago, while also being a mainstay on the JV team. “Smilin’ Jack” looks to be a more prominent figure in the varsity level this season.
#20 SAM WILLIKE 6’2″ – 140 LBS
Sam took a giant leap forward last year, named our Most Valuable JV player, where he was the team’s leading scorer, putting up 125 points in 15 outings. He contributed in 17 varsity events and will be a mainstay with the 21-22 team
#24 MASON SEPATE 6’1″ – 155 LBS
A year ago Mason emerged as a varsity starter, and held down a forward position, where he contributed 171 points (7/7 ppg) and led the team in steals, knocking down his free-throws at an 84% clip. Sepate will be counted on this season to be a leading scorer and rebounder.
#30 NATE SCHALK 6’1″ – 180 LBS
Fresh off of the gridiron, where he was plagued with ankle/achilles issues, Nate is hoping to be healthy at the onset of the hoops season. He saw action in 10 varsity events last year, while playing primarily with the JV team.
#32 EVAN ORTH 5’11” – 190 LBS
Leading tackler and back on the football team, Evan is fearless and out-plays his size and athletic ability. Orth was last year’s JV team’s second-leading scorer, putting up 117 points, while contributing in 12 varsity games.
#33 LUCAS STEFFEN 6’3″ – 170 LBS
Lucas missed his freshman basketball season due to heath issues, but gained experience at the JV level his sophomore year, and has spent the summer/fall in the gym preparing for the upcoming season. Lucas is the goalie on the varsity soccer team.
#40 LUKE SCHUMACHER 6’3″ – 180 LBS
Another player who has been star-crossed throughout his high school career. Luke has undergone two knee surgeries, but approached the 2021-22 season close to 100%. Luke will be counted on to provide backup to David Govan and also contribute in the power forward position.
#42 LUKE PISCITELLO 5’10” – 165 LBS
Another who has worked hard to hone his basketball skills prior to football season, where he was our team’s kicker. A big, physical forward, Luke will perform mainly with the JV team and try to earn some PT in the 7:30pm game.
