Our Mustangs face Pendleton County Friday night at Sharp Middle School, where we will attempt to “run the table” and complete our first-ever perfect regular season, and crack double-figure wins for the fist time as well.  This game is also for the “Battle of US27” trophy, which has become a big thing between the two schools, giving us each something meaningful to play for, in our last independent game of the season   This trophy has resided at Brossart High School for the past three years.  Brossart leads the overall series between the two teams 7-3.

Brossart and Pendleton County appear at opposite ends of the spectrum coming into this year’s renewal.  We are 9-0 and riding a wave, whereas the Wildcats are 1-6 with a lone win over Lewis County, and an early season 20-16 loss to Dayton, our only common opponent, at Davis Field. They have failed to qualify for the 3A playoffs, ss the fifth place finisher in a five team district, and will complete their season next Friday night at home vs Newport in a makeup game.

Most Brossart-Pendleton County games are contentious, especially those played at the Sharp Middle School.  The Cats are a 3A team from a school with an enrollment of 762 students.  They have every right to be contentious.   As seen below, seven of our ten games played have been one-possession games, with two of them being decided by one-point.
