NCC Senior Eddie Bivens Scores All 6 Breds TDs, Max Meyers Perfect on PATs. Spaulding Throws For 2 TDs, Runs For 1, Runge 3-3 on PATs, Solidifies School Record at 77 in His Career

In my preview of this game in referring to the NCC running-backs that we have encountered the past two years, I used the terms “Roughshod,” and in referring specifically to Eddie Bivens, called him a “Greased Pig.”  Pretty insightful, I’d say, as Bivens was a “greased pig”, running Roughshod over us for all six NCC touchdowns unscathed.  He gained 348 yards on 25 carries, a pretty good night’s work.  His tack-on buddy, tonight, Max Meyer, hit on all six of his PAT attempts, as the Breds opened a 28-0 first half lead and never looked back, doubling it up on the challengers 42-21,  advancing to next weeks Regional Championship Game. Our Mustangs finish at 6-6, and head to hoops season.  I’m thinking that each team had three turnovers.  Landon Spaulding threw for two second half touchdowns, one to Quinten Tischner and the other to Landon Ruth, and he carried one into the endzone on his own.  Max Runge was a perfect 3 of 3 on PATs, solidifying the number 77 as the new school standard for Most PATs in a Career.

Brossart Junior Beckett Meersman stood out on defense and was named our Defensive Player of the Game, Nick Cozzi was his Offensive Player of the Game counterpart.

BY THE NUMBERS:  Passing – Landon Spaulding 26 of 43 for 247yards, 2 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions.  Rushing – Bentley McKinzie picked up 36 yards on 13 carries.  Receiving – Nick Cozzi had 11 receptions for 125 yards and Quinten Tischner caught 6 passes for 64 yards Landon Ruth had 2 receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown.  Defensively Mason McKinzie and Quinten Tischner had 12 tackles each.  Matthew Goering had 8, and Matthew Riegler 7 Atticus Prost, Jaxon Miller and Quinten Tischner each recovered a fumble, while Nick Cozzi intercepted a pass.

FOR THE SEASON:  Landon Spaulding completed 160 of 288 pass attempts for 2,076 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.  Receptions: Nick Cozzi 53/807 yards with 6 touchdowns.  Landon Ruth 20/367 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Isaac Amin 30/289 yards with a touchdown.  Quinten Tischner 26/288 yards for 2 touchdowns, and Brady Boruske 8/105 yards with a touchdown.  Rushing Yardage – Anthony Schuck 125 carries 385 yards and 5 touchdowns.
