While these close games are fun to watch (or listen), it's tough to see such hard work come up short several times this season
Brossart vs. Mason Co (2/10)
Nobody can accuse this team of being boring. They are one of the most exciting teams we’ve had in awhile. Thursday night, twenty-four hours after taking the Boone County Rebels to overtime, they found themselves tied at 43-43 with the Mason County Royals, the consensus Number Two ranked team in the 10th Region. with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Sound familiar? Unfortunately at that point the wheels came off of the Mustangs’ wagon, and we were outscored 11-2 in that final minute. A total of 22 turnovers also contributed to our demise. Brossart led 9-7 after a period, and trailed 24-23 at the half.
Despite Mason County leading 38-34 after three, we managed to tie it up at 43s before the Royals went on their late-game run. The final score was 54-45. In the contest, there were five ties and six lead changes. David Govan led the Mustangs with 14, and Luke Schumacher added 13. Mason Sepate contributed 8. Terrell Henry led all scorers with 19, and Braylon Hamilton knocked home five 3-pointers for 15 points. Mason County improves to 19-5 and our guys fall to 8-16. We will take Friday off in anticipation of Senior Night Saturday at home when the Lewis County Lions come to call.
