Colts Impress In 32-12 Opening Night Win Over NCC

Dave Schabell August 28, 2021 11:38 pm

Anthony Schuck Runs For Two, and Luke Kohls three touchdowns, as Colts break open a close contest with a 19-0 late game run.

Hard work pays off, and Saturday night at the MAC our Brossart Junior High Colts cashed in, dominating their Campbell County Catholic rival from the Carothers Road Hill early in the game, running out to a 13-0 first half lead, before momentum jumped into a NCC uniform and the roles reversed, as the Breds roared back to cut the gap to 13-12 early in the third quarter.

Our Colts answered the challenge, re-opening the lead to 19-12 at the end of the third quarter, and then drew off to post the 32-12 win with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns and an extra point.

Anthony Schuck scored our first two touchdowns, a 27 yard trophy run on our second play from scrimmage, and a 60 yard punt return in the second quarter.  Luke Kohls took over in the second half where he would invade the endzone on three occasions –  a 7 yard run, a 72 yard marathon score, and a 25 yard sprint to paydirt.  En Route he also logged a pair on one -point conversions.

NCC had their moments, overcoming a 13-0 deficit, cutting the Colt’s advantage to a single point early in the third quarter, causing the home crowd some anxious moments.  However, that was as close as the Breds would come, being turned back by a Colts touchdown late in the third quarter, and then having another pair of scores piled on in the final stanza.

The NCC scores came on a 26 yard pass play from Henry Brooks to Carter Manning capping off a 65 yard drive, and an 8 yard run to the end zone on a quarterback keeper by Brooks, topping off a 61 yard drive.

The Colts will be right back in action this coming Wednesday when they take on Bracken County in Brooksville at 6pm.
