ABOUT DAVE SCHABELL

“Schabs” is a fixture around the Mustang basketball program. During his tenure, the ’65 Brossart grad has served as head coach to eleven Mustang boys freshman teams. He served a five year stint as Varsity Girls Head Coach (1986–1991) where his Lady Stangs compiled a 99–45 record, including a 26–6 campaign in 1986–87 which ended in the 9th Region Semi-Finals. Dave has served under nine Mustang boys basketball head coaches.

He presently operates this website, serves as the program’s business manager, conducts fund-raising, anchors the Meridix Basketball Broadcast Team, and edits the program’s Media Guide. Schabell was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1976, and has been named to six Hall of Fames. He is most proud of being Brossart’s first member named to the 10th Region HOF, and most recently the Northern Kentucky Boys Basketball Coaches Court of Distinction.
