Harrison County Extracts A Pound of Mustangs Flesh After Losing 13 of their Last 14 Outings To Us – Too Big, Too Long On This Night, Prevail 57-39

Dave Schabell December 11, 2021 2:49 am

Our Bus and a Busload of Brossart Students Returning From a Christmas Themed Haunted House Arrived Back In Alexandria Friday Night at the Same time – We both had similar experiences.

Varsity Game Broadcast Replay

Mason Sepate
Luke Piscitello Led the JVs with 10 Points

Our JVs were unable to overcome the home team in the prelim game, falling behind 6-4 after a period.  Harrison County outscored us 12-6 in the second frame, expanding the lead to 18-10 at the half.   We emerged from the locker room and outscored the Breds 15-11, narrowing the margin to 30-25 with six minutes remaining in the contest.  We could muster only 6 points in the fourth quarter, as the Breds prevailed 39-31, handing Nate Mutsch’s charges with their second loss of the season, with three victories.

Few tears were shed for the Brossart Mustangs Friday night on the Cynthiana Hilltop, as the home team laid a 57-39 wallop on our guys, breaking a five game losing steak to the Mustangs.  This was only their second victory over our ball team since 2003.

Mason Sepate got the scoring started by hitting a 3-pointer right out of the box, but we would not put additional numbers on the board until only 14 seconds remained in the first period.  We trailed 15-3, en-route to a17-5 deficit after the first quarter.

Things improved somewhat in the second period, as we were outscored 15-11, but the Breds had doubled it up on us at 32-16 at halftime.  Harrison County again owned the third period, outscoring our guys 14-5, to erase any doubt as to the outcome, drawing off 46-21 with 8 minutes to play in the game.  We did regain our free-throw shooting touch, knocking down 7 of 11 in the fourth quarter and 16 of 24 on the night.  In the waning moments of the game Sophomore Ryan Williamson joined the quest for the 1,000 Points club by scoring his first-ever varsity points with a field-goal.

Mason Sepate was our lone players to solve the Breds defense, hitting a trio of 3-pointers and finishing with 16 points on the night.  With the loss the Mustangs fall to 2-3 on the young season, returning home for a NKAC DivII encounter Monday night with the Beechwood Tigers.

Brayton Hinton led all scorers with 17 points, and Clay Carperter added 11, as eight Breds put ink in the book.

Sophomore Ryan Williamson scored his first varsity points, after scoring a pair of field-goals in the JV game.

Luke Piscitello led the Mustangs with 10 points and Brandon Bezold, down getting some reps, tossed in 8, while nailing a pair of 3-Pointers.  The Mustangs JVs will be back in action Monday night as we host the Red and White Beechwood Tigers.
