Let’s Meet The Bishop Brossart Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2020 – Day Two

The Bishop Brossart Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020, will be belatedly inducted this coming Saturday night at a dinner in their honor in the Thomas H. Seither Gymnasium

Today we look back on the storied Brossart career of Barb Kohls.  Barb came to us after graduating from Morehead State University via Bethpage, N.Y. where she grew up. She was a multi-sport athlete for the Eagles, playing Field Hockey, basketball, softball and volleyball.  After graduation she arrived at Brossart High School which she would call home for the next 43 years.  During that span she taught Healh and PE, while periodically coaching three sports.  However, golf was her true passion.  She will be best known for being our boys golf coach and coaching her son Clint.  Together in 2004 Barb would be named a Coach of the Year, and Clint, Golfer of the Year in Northern Kentucky.  Clint played collegiate golf at NKU.

Nathan Mutsch ’07 was an amazing two-sport athlete.  Build big and strong, Nate used his size and strength to contribute to his basketball team’s 65 wins during his sophomore through senior seasons, where they District Champions in 2006 and 2007, and NKAC Division II Champions in 2007, when the team went 28-5, while winning the All “A” State Championship.

Nate’s long term notoriety would come on the pitchers mound where his Mustangs teams would win 91 games during his four year varsity career.  Nate’s stellar baseball career led to a Division I Scholarship to Xavier University, where he pitched four years for the Musketeers.

Nate presently serves as our Boys Basketball program’s Junior Varsity coach.

Thursday we will look at inductees, Jacob Rieger ’10 and Diana Simon ’84s Brossart High School athletic careers.
