The Anthony Munoz Foundation honored 18 Greater-Cincinnati area high school students at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse for their Annual Straight ‘A’ Luncheon.

Out of the 18 students, six were from Northern Kentucky: three males and three females. Kyissa Bassett of Newport, Madeline Brooks of Ignite Institute, Mackenzie Meadows of Bishop Brossart, Damian Green of Holmes, Jonas Lescoe of Villa Madonna, and Andrew Rath of Newport were the six Northern Kentucky students who received scholarships.

All finalists were awarded a $2,000 scholarship to put towards their college education. In total, there were $45,000 worth of scholarships received. Mike’s Carwash, in partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals, “2 Sacks, You Save” promotion raised over $174,000 for the Foundation, which will go towards the Foundation’s Impact Programs.

From the 18 students, Anthony Munoz himself selected the Straight ‘A’ Scholarship Male and Female Students of the Year. The overall student winners were Noelia Ordonez of Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton, Damian Green of Holmes High School, and Andrew Rath of Newport High School. Each finalist received an additional $3,000 scholarship, for a total of $5,000. All students nominated will receive a letter of recognition signed by Anthony Muñoz.

As a student at Holmes High School, Green has excelled all around. Damian carries a 4.1 GPA and is ranked 5th in his class. He was also recognized as a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. Outside of the classroom, Green is a four-year varsity starter in both football and wrestling. In football, he was ranked a Northern Kentucky Football Coaches Association Top 26 Player. Green will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall.

At Newport High School, Rath has maintained a 4.0 throughout his academic career, while playing football and baseball. He is currently taking college credit classes at Gateway community college and has made it to the state competition for both Future Business Leaders of America and Skills USA. Rath also serves his community by being a volunteer firefighter at the Southgate Fire Department. Rath will attend Eastern Kentucky University in the fall.
