Mustangs continue to improve as they look ahead to the All "A" on Saturday in Paris, KY
The night started with solid 3-1 JV win over the Pioneers of Simon Kenton, with goals scored by sophomore midfielder Brennan Callahan (2) and sophomore forward Tyler Braun. Freshman midfielder Alex Runge assisted 2 of those goals.
Shortly after the game ended, the clouds parted, the rain stopped and it set the stage for a beautiful night of soccer.
With the first half nearly in the books, Tyler Smith’s corner kick entered the box, bounced off of multiple players & eventually hit the back of the net after sophomore defender Carter Goodman scored his first varsity goal.
Minutes into the second half, the Pioneers worked their way down the field and set up for their own corner kick. The kick sailed just inside the back post to tie the game at 1-1.
Later, the Mustangs gained control in the midfield and sent a long pass up to senior Andrew Beck, who assisted the team’s second goal of the game by sophomore midfielder Tyler Smith.
Junior defender Colin Ratcliff gave his teammates and fans some breathing room by scoring a security goal with minutes left in the game, putting the Mustangs up 3-1.
With no game scheduled for Thursday this week, the Mustangs look to prepare for Calvary Christian in the All “A”. Game time is scheduled for Saturday 9/4 @5pm and the game will be played at the Paris Athletic Complex in Paris, KY.
