PARIS REPLAY

These brackets represent both the Girls and the Boys Tournaments. In a tournament where things didn’t go according to Hoyle, Both Brossart teams cut down the nets and brought the heavy hardware back to the Avenue of Champions – the boys for the first time since 2020, and our girls the first since the Marie Kiefer, Covid shortened season in 2021.

The Paris and Brossart girls were touted in play in this year’s finals, but that was sidetracked when Bracken County dethroned the 2022 defending champion Paris Lady Hounds, and our girls outlasted the Lady Bears to claim the title Thursday night in Paris.

While our guys were expected to advance to the finals, on paper, Bracken County laid over this field.  Paris did the dirty work for us in ousting the Polar Bears, and on Thursday night, we outplayed the Greyhounds 74-62 to punch our ticket to the “A” State Tournament for the sixteenth time in this century.

We were the best TEAM Thursday night in the 10th Region “A” Tournament, allowing our guys to outplay the homestanding Paris Greyhounds and cut down the nets in the 10th Region “A” Classic for the sixteenth time.  A 13-9 first period set the tone, and a 34-23 halftime lead sent a message.  We opened our longest lead of the night at 53-32 late in the third quarter, and slugged it out to the wire to post the 74-62 victory.  Luke Schumacher was named our All Academic representative and Logan Woosley, Brandon Bezold, and Mason Sepate named to the All-Tournament team. Logan Woosley led all scorers with 20 points and topped five Brossart (12-4) double-figure scorers. Luke Schumacher put up 13, Brandon Bezold 12, Anthony Kruse 11, and Mason Sepate 10.  The two-headed monster of Malachi Ashford and Jakari Ranson scored 18 and 17 for the Hounds.

First year Brossart head coach, Ben Franzen, cuts down the net following our 74-62 win over Paris in the 10th Region "A" Championship game on Thursday, January 12th at Paris High School
