Game Report

In our boys opening round game our guys saw their 10th Region “A” lives pass before their eyes, falling behind 53-50 with time expiring, when Mason Sepate nailed an off-balance three-pointer that sent the game to overtime, where we outscored the Blue Jackets 8-3 to post our 10th victory of the season and send them on a date with Calvary Christian in the Tuesday night semis.  Calvary defeated St. Patrick 46-41 in the final contest of the afternoon at Paris High School.  The Sepate “3” was reminiscent of the Ethan Eilerman buzzer beaters, one which beat Holmes in a regular season game at home, and the other in the 10th Region Tournament  against Robertson County that sent that game to OT, that we also eventually won.  On the day we were led in the scoring column by Brandon Bezold who poured in 23 points to lead all scorers.  Mason Sepate finished the afternoon with 14.

Our thoughts and prayers with Nicholas County Senior Preston Blake who suffered a broken leg while warming up prior to the BB-Nicholas Co Boys Game.  He was taken by ambulance to the UK Medical Center.

In our semi-finals game with Calvary, things went pretty much as expected, since we had handed the Cougars a 50 point loss at home a month ago.  After a few minutes of ask and answer basketball, we unleased a 12-0 run to end the first quarter and continued to dominate the contest throughout and posted the 74-16 win.  All 12 players who dressed for this game scored.  We were led by Sophomore Parker Mulberry, who nailed three 3-Pointers, along with a conventional basket for 11 points.  This will not be an unfamiliar role for Parker going forward.  He has the reputation of being a “gunslinger” (long range shooter with the green light to pull the trigger). Luke Schumacher was our other double-giure scorer with ten points.  Luke hit five 2-pointers , all in the second quarter. We will take on Paris in the 10th Region “A” Championship game, Thursday evening at 8pm.
