KEEGAN GULLEY UPDATE Good News!!! After a rough Friday night, Keegan regained coherency, and was released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon.  He has been diagnosed with a serious concussion and will be re-evaluated by the concussion protocol team in two weeks.  He still has some healing to do BUT is expected to make a full recovery.  Continue to keep Keegan in your prayers. Kudos to our student section who prayed for him in unison while Keegan was being tended to on the field. In a contest that eerily resembled the scrimmage at Sayre a week ago in Lexington, our Mustangs opened the new season by allowing Dayton’s Landyn Hopper to dice our defense for touchdown runs of 42 yards and 12 yards while dominating our guys on both sides of the ball.  Again, much as we experienced in Lexington, following the second Dayton score our guys completely dominated the remainder of the half, scoring 15 unanswered points to overtake the Greendevils with a 15-12 lead at the half.  Our scoring was the result of Evan Orth finishing off a 65 yard drive, and Orth also completed the 2-Point conversion.  We called on the jumbo package of Eli Twehues, Austin Schadler and Evan Orth for our second score as big man Schadler went one yard to complete a 48 yard drive.  Soccer-Kicker Tyler Smith knocked home the PAT and the Mustangs took the lead God was now back in his heaven, and all was well within the Mustang nation.

Senior - Evan Orth gained 91 yards on 17 carries including two touchdowns and a 2-Point conversion. He had one pass reception for 21 yards.

Our guys tacked on 13 more unanswered points in the third quarter, as Sophomore Tyler Holtz took over at quarterback and devised a 52 yard drive for a touchdown. Evan Orth finished off the drive with his second touchdown run of the night, this one on an 8 yard run.  We would conclude our scoring on the night when Junior Alex Amin picked off Russell McIntyre and ran unmolested for 25 yards and a Brossart score.  Dayton scored a late game touchdown to make the final score 28-18 and put the first ball of the season on the wall.

Our team will be home at the MAC for the next two Thursday nights when we will take on Newport next week, and Bellevue the following Thursday.

A few of our varsity players luxuriating in ice baths at the "Stang Spa" nursing their post-game aches and pains Saturday morning during the JV Game.

Mustangs JVs best Dayton 38-14 on Saturday morning at the MAC.  Off the top of my head, touchdowns by Landon Geyer, LandON Ruth, Eli Pittman and Luke Kohls.  Pittman may have had two.
