It was “Next Man Up” for the Mustangs who arrived in Bedford without the services of our quarterback, Keegan Gulley, and key defensive leaders Joe Schroeder, Derek Smith, and Henry Goering who is out for the season. Not to worry however, as Tyler Holtz stepped right in, hit on 12 of 20 passes for 244 yards, four of which went for touchdowns (Schroeder (2), Amin, Mandel) and ran for another, earning him a Player of the Game Award. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 21-0 lead on a pair of Cam Mandel trophy runs, and a Tyler Holtz 2 Yard keeper. Tyler Smith was 3 for 3 on PATs in the period and 6 of 6 on the night. We would tack on two additional scores in the second frame when “Holtzie” hit Luke Schroeder for a pair of House Calls. The Raiders did get on the board at the 1:12 mark of the second period when Tyler was picked off by Trimble County’s Sam Galloway went 72 yards for the score. The half ended with the green-clads on top 36-7.
