The Brossart Football Community Mournes The Sudden Passing of Assistant Varsity Coach, Dennis Ollier

The Brossart Football community awoke Sunday morning to the news that Varsity Assistant Coach, Dennis Ollier, who actively contributed to coaching our Mustangs Friday night at Sharp Middle School in their 49-0 win over Pendleton County, had passed away suddenly on Saturday.

Coach Ollier was a part of the original staff of our first Varsity Football team back in 2007.  Most recently he served on Coach Paul Wiggins staff and stayed on this season with Coach Kozerski.

Coach Ollier had over 25 years of coaching experience, beginning in the NoKyYouthFootballLeague in 1986 with the Newport Firefighters .  Over the years he has served as the Head Baseball Coach at Bracken County High School and was instrumental in starting the Polar Bear Football Program in 2002.  In 2006 he came to Brossart with his brother, Rodney, and their dad, Dennis, Sr., to start the football program here at Brossart.  He returned to the Mustangs sidelines  in 2016 after coaching baseball and football at Newport in 2010.

Coach Dennis Ollier, Jr.

He resided in Newport with his wife of 26 years Rodena.  He is the father of Brossart Grads, Jake, who played baseball and football  for the Mustangs until graduation in 2011, and Cassie (Class of 2012).  The Olliers have a second son, Kyle.

Coach Ollier always had a ready, wide smile and a kind word for everyone who he came into contact with.  He will be missed by our past and present players, and be remembered as being a large presence with a quiet demeanor who provided a shoulder to lean on, and an ear that would listen to them without recourse.  He dispensed advise in small doses, that left its mark on them.  He will be missed.
