The Class 1A – UK Orthopedics State Football Finals Bracket

Dave Schabell October 31, 2021 11:38 pm

Here is the road map to the Class 1A State Championship Game on Friday, December 3rd at Kroger Field in Lexington

Our Mustangs are the top team in the lower bracket, playing Paris this Friday night at the MAC, and when successful, will play the winner of Bracken County at Nicholas County, to maybe get the chance to play Nicholas County for the District 5 championship which we were denied a year ago.

Should this come to fruition we would play the survivor of District 6 – Raceland, Fairview, Paintsville or Betsy Layne.  Raceland will be strong favorites to emerge from District 6, which, because they possess a superior RPI of .719 to our .654 would send up to Raceland for a State Quarterfinals match with the Rams.

Getting way ahead of ourselves here, but we do have a history with Raceland, having playd them at Bob Miller Stadium back on November 6, 2015 where the Rams won 22-14,  a somewhat controversial finish.  We have since played them on three other occasions at Raceland, which is west of Ashland.  Any other result out of District 6 would keep us right here at home for a Friday, November 19th game at the MAC.

When would we play NCC???  This is a question I have been asked a bunch lately.  Well, despite the fact that we are in neighboring districts – #4 and #5, the only time we would possibly see the Breds in the playoffs would be in the State Championship game, which is just fine with us.

Right now, we need to focus on Paris, Friday night, as we begin our journey in the Class 1A playoffs at 7:30pm at the MAC.

Both the Munninghoff Family Stadium at the MAC, and the Seither Center gymnasium provides ability to watch the games online or through other streaming outlets. The games can be viewed on your computer, phones, tablets, and streaming devices (AppleTV, FireTV and Roku). We have partnered with the NFHS to make this happen.

This does come with a subscription fee. You may choose from a monthly or annual subscription. If you sign up via the button below, BBHS does receive a small portion of that fee.
