PARKER MULBERRY NAILS THE 3-POINT GAME-WINNER IN ASK AND ANSWER 44-43 JV WIN
In one of the most contentious games at any level ever played in the SyDome, Parker Mulberry nailed a 3-Point goal with just over 10 seconds remaining in the game and we then dodged a Scott Eagle bullet to prevail 44-43 in the second of three games played on this night. In this game also, we were forced to come from behind as many as 9 points in the first quarter (12-3). We arrived to tie the game at 17-17 which was the first of 7 ties and 11 lead changes in the contest. We were tied at 17s, 28s, 30s, 32s, 38s, and 41s. Dom Hadden demonstrated his ability to dominate a game, putting up a team-high 15 points of which 11 were scored in the first half. Keegan Gulley and Alex Combs contributed 7 points apiece. Mulberry’s game-winner was his second of two 3-point goals.
THESE MUSTANGS SHOW A LOT OF FIGHT, IN THIS COME-FROM-BEHIND, NEAR MISS, 81-75 LOSS TO DISTRICT OPPONENT SCOTT.
Mustangs fall behind 14 points after a quarter, then put themselves in a position to win, closing the gap to 75-73 with 35 ticks left on the clock. An uncalled foul on a Brossart rebound and an untimely technical foul, pretty much solidified the Scott Eagle victory 81-75, giving both Scott and Campbell County wins over our Mustangs in district seeding play. A win by the Camels over the Eagles in their encounter on January 27th, will set up a rematch of our two teams again in the semi-finals of the 37th District Tournament in February. After the first quarter where we were outscored 23-9, we matched 17 point outputs in the second period, outscored the Eagles 16-14 in the third, and then 33-27 down the stretch. Logan Woosley led all scorers with 23 points followed closely by Mason Sepate with 21, and Brandon Bezold with 15. Countering for the Eagles were Carter Eten with 21, Dylan Griffen 19 points, and Connor Griffen with 11.
