David Govan Recognized as NKBBCA Division II All-Star and 10th Region All-Region, Honorable Mention. Plus – Regular Season Stats Leaders

Dave Schabell February 20, 2022 9:50 pm

David Govan Concludes Senior Year Regular Season as Scoring, Field-Goal Percentage, Rebounding, and Blocked Shots Leader

Our resident Big Dawg, David Govan, was named to the NKBBCA Division II All-Stars at the meeting of the Northern Kentucky Coaches this past Saturday morning.

Govan, played in 27 of our 28 scheduled events this year, missing the Bellevue game due to being on Senior Retreat.

He led the Mustangs in the following categories:  Most Field Goals – 171,  Most Field-Goal Attempts – 273,  Highest Field-Goal Percentage – 62.64%,  Most Free-Throws Attempted – 130,  Most Free-Throws Made – 68,  Most Defensive Rebounds – 126,  Most Total Rebounds – 178,  Most Blocked Shots – 32, Most Points Scored – 410, and Best Scoring Average – 16.19ppg.

Junior Mason Sepate led us in charges taken with 13 of them.  Luke Schumacher was close behind with 12.  Sepate was second with Field-Goals Attempted – 257, and with the second most Field-Goals Made – 119.  Brandon Bezold tops us in two shooting categories – Free-Throw Percentage – (45-52) 86.5%, and 3-Point Goal Percentage – (36-91) – 39.6%.  Sepate is right there at 38.9% (46-118) from beyond the arc, and Sepate is second at Free-Throw Percentage (44-60) – 73.3%. Luke Schumacher leads us in the Offensive Rebound category with 56 of them.  Govan is second at 52.  Schumacher also is second to Govan in total rebounds with 154.  Luke Schumacher is also our Assists leader with 64 “dimes” doled out, and Brandon Bezold is second with 57.

Mason Sepate is our Master Thief with 48 steals, with a gap back to David Govan with 32.  Govan is by far our Blocked Shots leader with 32 and Sepate is second with 17.  Mason is also our second leading scorer, putting up 326 points on the season and second also in scoring average at 11.7ppg.

There are some players who have higher percentage numbers but lack the number of qualifying attempts, such as Logan Woosley from three-point land.  He shoots 45% percent from beyond the arc, but is 15 of 33, which does not qualify, and Wooz is now sidelined with a broken hand..

These are “End of Regular Season Numbers”  Of course all stats compiled in the District and Regional Tournament will be tacked on to complete the overall season stats, upon the completion of the post-season..
