Mustangs Handled By Lloyd Memorial 53-7
We had hoped for better, full well knowing that we were playing a superior team riding the wave that they are optimistic will carry them deep into the 3A playoffs down the road.
For the first nine minutes of the game we played toe to toe with the vaunted Juggs. The first score of the game came at the 3:07 mark of the first quarter when a blocked Brossart punt, quickly resulted in a Lloyd touchdown and a Juggs 6-0 lead after a period of play. Unfortunately in the second quarter we would be unable to contain the Lloyd offense as they scored on four occasions, putting up 28 unanswered point and securing their fifth victory of the season against no losses.
The game went to a running clock at the 7:90 mark in the third stanza when Yuri Collins-Comer sped into the end zone for the third of three touchdown on the night, making it 40-0. In the fourth quarter Senior Dominic Larken scored a pair of touchdowns against our JVs, making it 53-0 with time expiring.
However, with 28 ticks left on the clock, Brossart Freshman Quarterback, Tripp Wilson came around left end on a keeper, zipping up the sideline and outraced the Juggs defense to the end zone, spoiling the Lloyd shutout.
The Mustang JVs will be in action Saturday morning at 10am in Erlanger. The varsity gets a Bye week next week. We will resume play in Paris on Sept. 29th. when we take on the undefeated Paris Greyhounds.
