LUDLOW HANDS OUR GUYS A 20-7 DISTRICT SEEDING LOSS
The first quarter played out as a pitcher’s battle with neither team able to generate any meaningful offense in five offensive possessions between us. In our final possession of the period, Keegan Gulley was intercepted and returned to the Brossart 35 yard line, which would result in a Ludlow score on a 27 yard run by Dameyan Anness, giving the homestanding Panthers a 7-0 early second quarter lead when the PAT was good, which was the halftime score.
The second half began with our Mustangs kicking off to Ludlow, who orchestrated a 68 yard drive to pay dirt as Anness, a sophomore, scored his second touchdown on the night – a 43 yard run. With the successful PAT the Panthers pushed out to a 14-0 lead. But not to worry, on the ensuing Brossart possession, Keegan Gulley marched us 68 yards that was culminated by a 17 yard touchdown pass to Alex Amin for the TD. With the Tyler Smith PAT, we quickly had the gap cut in half and trailed 14-7. Our momentum would be short-lived when Miles Garrett fielded the Tyler Smith kickoff at the five yard line and carried it all of the way down to the Brossart 6 where it was first and goal. We were up to the challenge, depriving the Panthers a score, turning the ball over to us, without putting any additional numbers on the scoreboard. The period ended with the Panthers maintaining the 14-7 lead. In the fourth quarter the Panthers tacked on an insurance score when Jackson Mays, the quarterback, connected with Spencer Brandenburg on a 27 yard touchdown pass, and when the Mustangs went 3 and out, pretty much ran out the clock before the Mustangs could mount a meaningful threat, taking the district seeding loss on the chin, 20-7.
