This past weekend the Brossart Bass Team returned to competition at the first tournament of the year held at Lake Cumberland. The tournament was Saturday morning March 23 from 7:15am to 3pm (CST). A total of 203 teams from all over the state of Kentucky competed in the tournament. The bass were mostly caught on jerk baits and Alabama rigs. Spotted bass were required to be 12″, largemouth bass needed to be 15″ and smallmouth bass had to be a whopping 18″ to be considered for weigh-in. Each team consisted of 2 anglers allowed to weigh in a maximum of 5 fish. The fish were very active in the morning and all of the Brossart boats got off to a great start. The fishing slowed down as the afternoon warmed up and the sun came out. At the end of the day the team consisting of Carson Schultz and Levi Snowball finished in 36th position weighing in 5 fish for a total of 8lbs and 4 oz. Lincoln Schabell and Brenden Hall finished 45th with 3 fish weighing 7lbs and 3oz. Reed Golden and Wyatt Moree finished 57th with 2 fish weighing 5lbs and 2oz, and Carter Vogel and John Prather finished 86th with 2 fish totaling 3lbs even. Overall a very respectable finish for all Brossart teams. The boat captains for the Brossart teams were Dan Bertram, Andy Schabell, Brian Golden and Doug Lackey. The next tournament will be April 27th at Lake Cumberland.
